Reece Moseley
A look into my journey as a composer, performer, and collaborator.
Education and Studies
Reece Moseley is an undergraduate student at the University of Georgia, pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition. His studies focus on developing a versatile voice as a composer, with interests spanning traditional concert music, film scoring, and electroacoustic works.
Early Musical and Theatrical Involvement
During high school, Reece took part in both music ensembles and theater productions. As a percussionist in the Wind Ensemble for all four years, he honed his musicianship while also performing memorable stage roles in the theatre department, such as “Jacob Marley” in A Christmas Carol and “Lieutenant Frank Cioffi” in Curtains.
Beyond performance, Reece’s interest in multimedia led him to the school’s audio/visual production program, where he created several short films. His passion for storytelling through film continues today, with projects uploaded to his YouTube channel, HBS Studios.
Leadership and Teaching
Reece has consistently sought leadership opportunities, serving as quad section leader in his junior year and drum captain his senior year of marching band. He also worked as an assistant music director for theater productions, which gave him experience in collaboration and rehearsal leadership. Currently, he applies this expertise as a percussion technician for several local high schools, teaching in both areas of front ensemble and batterie percussion.
Compositional Work
Reece has been composing since his early years as a musician and creating a diverse portfolio of works. Highlights include his award-winning musical, Roulette, which earned recognition at the GA Thescon MusicalWorks Competition in 2022. His percussion writing has been showcased through works like Night in the City, selected for performance at the GMEA Composition Competition, and Velvet Echos, a marimba and cajón duet performed in recital with his friend Austin Waters.
Recent and Ongoing Projects
At UGA, Reece has continued to expand his creative scope. His compositions range from solo and chamber works to electronic surround sound pieces. Many of these works are available to a wider audience on Spotify and other major streaming services under his own name.
